Refresh of Safer Lives: Changed Lives

From Violence Against Women Prevention Network

Wednesday, 9th January, 2013

The Scottish Government, in collaboration with CoSLA, has decided to produce a more comprehensive blueprint for reducing, and ending, VAW as opposed to a simple refresh of Safer Lives.

This is because developments such as: the re-establishment of the Cross Government Strategy Group on Violence Against Women, next autumn’s spending review and the single police force all present unparalleled opportunities for embedding, and mainstreaming, work to tackle VAW into a wide range of areas. As this will be a bigger piece of work than was originally envisaged (and will involve: production of a logic model, a mapping exercise and alignment of numerous strategies), it is anticipated that the document will be published in autumn 2013.

We’d be extremely grateful if you could let Network members know that we are looking to increase our emphasis on prevention and early intervention, and also that part of this process will include consultation with our key stakeholders.
