Survey on gender inclusion, children and young people

August 14, 2012

Last year, YWCA Scotland, in partnership with Zero Tolerance, led the Under Pressure programme of training for youth and community workers on tackling relationship abuse and sexual exploitation in their practice. In feedback, participants reported that they would benefit from additional training on issues related to gender inclusion.

This autumn, YWCA Scotland will deliver evidence-based training sessions designed to increase the knowledge, skills and confidence of youth and community workers in addressing inequality and promoting gender inclusion in their work with children and young people. The project is supported by the Scottish Government National Voluntary Youth Work Organisations Support Fund.  In addition to further sessions of Under Pressure later in the year, forthcoming courses will include:

Building Self-Esteem in Young People from a Gendered Perspective.
Wednesday, 19 September 2012, 9.45 am to 4.30 pm in Glasgow

Young People & Communication Technology:  Stranger Danger or Peer Peril?
Saturday, 6 October 2012, 9.45 am to 4.30 pm in Edinburgh

Tackling Sexualisation & Gender Discrimination Through Youth Work
Saturday, 3 November, 2012, 9.45 am to 4.30 pm  in Edinburgh

YWCA Scotland would be grateful for responses to a short survey to help find out about existing training related to gender inclusion and young people as well as learning needs and gaps in current training provision.  Information gained will help reduce the risk of duplication, enable sign-posting to other learning opportunities and ensure learning needs can be addressed effectively through development of the programme.

Please complete the short online survey if possible by Friday, 31 August 2012.  Thanks in advance for your help!
