May 25, 2011

Thursday 23 June 2011, 10.30 am (registration from 10 am) to 3pm, The Pillared Room, Grand Hall, Kilmarnock, KA1 3BN

South West Scotland CJA’s Multi Agency Domestic Abuse Group invites you to participate in this event:

Ø        To share information on what work is currently underway with domestic abuse perpetrators in South West Scotland and elsewhere
Ø        To identify good practice and gaps in provision
Ø        To join together and strengthen our community-wide response to tackling domestic abuse.

The event is part of a programme of work being undertaken by the Multi Agency Domestic Abuse Group to deliver the SWSCJA Area Plan 2011-14, and in particular Local Outcome 2: “Perpetrators of domestic abuse address their offending behaviour.
Through the work of this Group, CJA partners are working together to develop a broader system approach to tackling domestic violence across South West Scotland.

A wide range of responses to working with perpetrators will be explored, from supporting families and engaging communities through to the role of different agencies in both community and custodial settings, and through both universal and specialist services.

The event will enable participants to find out more about current practice through a series of investigative workshops; to learn more about the newly introduced Caledonian System; and to contribute to the ongoing development and delivery of our agenda through a working table session.

Contributions will include the Respect Helpline (UK-wide), Working with Men Project (Edinburgh), Domestic Abuse Perpetrator Pilot (Lanarkshire), Violence Reduction Unit (Scotland), Domestic Abuse Cluster Court (Ayr), Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conferences (Dumfries and Galloway), Caledonian System (South West Scotland), Domestic Abuse Task Force (Ayrshire) and prison-based developments.
