LGBT Helpline cries ‘Help’!

April 20, 2011

After over 30 years of offering invaluable support to the LGBT community, Strathclyde Gay & Lesbian Switchboard (SGLS) has lost most of its funding and is threatened with closure.

SGLS is now the only helpline of its type in Scotland and is run entirely by volunteers.

We have launched an online survey to gather evidence of the value of its work in a bid to secure future funding.

If you can answer ‘Yes’ to any of the following then we really need to hear from you – it just takes a few minutes to input to our survey.

  • I have used Switchboard / Lesbian Line / Crosslynx / Hate Crime-reporting Line / Icebreakers.
  • I represent / am part of a community organisation that knows of SGLS services and / or refers people on to them.
  • I have trained and volunteered with Switchboard – however long ago!

Tell us what Switchboard means to you and/or your organisation – go to www.sgls.co.uk and click on the ‘Enter survey’ button.  And do forward this on to anyone else you feel could help with this.

To find out more about our work or ways of donating (putting even a little back means a lot to us – and, more importantly, the thousands of people who still rely on us each year) go to www.sgls.co.uk . Click on the ‘Help keep us going’ button.
