Scottish Women’s Aid: Census Day 2010

On the 22nd September 2010, we undertook a census day snapshot of all affiliated refuges across the country. 737 women and 451 children and young people contacted Women’s Aid on this day. 40 women and 41 young people asked for refuge accommodation, but no spaces could be found for 16 women and 20 young people.

Shock New Figures Show More Than 120 Women A Day Seek Help For Domestic Abuse In Scotland (Daily Record 09/11/10)
Around 120 Scots women seek help for domestic abuse each day, according to new figures. Scottish Women’s Aid said 123 women contacted them for the first time during a 24-hour census on September 22.
