From Violence Against Women Prevention Network:
VAW Prevention Network Action Plan January 2010 – March 2011
“We hope this plan will give a clear focus to our work to the end of our initial funded period in March 2011. To ensure clarity about our aims as a network, we will be asking all new members to sign up to our aims and our gender-based analysis of violence against women. This is set out on the front page of our action plan and on the website at: http://www.vawpreventionscotland.org.uk/about-us. If any existing members do not support this analysis or our aims, please contact us to discuss.
Some important areas of work set out in the plan include:
· Building on our information sharing work: monthly enews, developing the website further and keeping it up to date with the latest resources
· Two national member development days: to help build capacity and a coordinated approach to funding and evaluation in the sector
· Research hub: Building connections with academics working in the VAW field to connect practitioners and researchers and keep members up to date with emerging research
· DVD resource on Commercial Sexual Exploitation with Women’s Support Project and other partners
· Media Protocol: Producing guidelines on responsible reporting of VAW with Scottish Women’s Aid and other partners
· Respect online: Converting ZT’s Respect packs into an interactive online resource
· Influencing national policy: lobbying and work to highlight the importance of prevention
· Briefings: producing members’ briefings collating and reviewing resources on key prevention topics
It looks to be an exciting year ahead! We look forward to working with you and will be sharing more information about each of these projects as things develop. Please contact Jenny or myself if you would like further information about any aspect of the planned work, or are interested in collaborating with us on developing any of these initiatives.
Thanks and all the best
Michelle
